Pontiglio Winery is a family-owned estate founded in 2014, with a name rooted in the Venetian word “Pontiglio,” meaning determination—a value that defines its journey. The family’s story began in 1980, when the historic vineyards of Corfu faced the risk of disappearing, inspiring a commitment to preserving traditional winemaking methods and protecting the island’s indigenous grape varieties. Specializing exclusively in rare local grapes such as Kakotrygis, Petrocoritho, and Skopelitiko, the estate crafts distinctive wines that express the unique character of Corfu’s terroir. Today, Pontiglio Winery cultivates 15 acres of vineyards and continues its mission by reviving and safeguarding abandoned vineyards in southern Corfu, ensuring this rich viticultural heritage endures for future generations.
